MADD Congratulates Rutherford County Sheriff's Deputy as a "Top Enforcer" for DUI Arrests

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Rutherford County Sheriff’s Deputy Zach Williams earned the “Top Enforcer” Award for DUI arrests for Tennessee sheriffs’ offices from Mothers Against Drunk Driving Thursday. Williams charged 51 drivers with DUI in 2022.

According to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, Williams was one of 115 law enforcement officers in Tennessee to earn awards at the 2023 MADD Tennessee Statewide Night of Remembers and Awards Ceremony Thursd

 Alex Otte, MADD Regional Executive Director, said the arrests are important because officers removed 6,668 impaired drivers, boaters and underage drinkers from the roads and waterways in 2021-22.

Deputy Williams and Cpl. William Travis also earned Silver Awards for more than 50 DUI arrests. Williams arrested 51 people for DUI in 2022 and Travis arrested 54 people for DUI in 2021. Deputy Victoria Capps made 70 DUI arrests in 2022 when she worked at Franklin Police Department.

Winners of the Bronze Awards were:

  • Deputy Luiz Ramirez, 38 DUI arrests in 2022.
  • Cpl. John Wauchek, 36 DUI arrests in 2022.
  • Deputy Tyler Cravens, 26 DUI arrests in 2022.
  • Deputy Joseph Brady, 25 DUI arrests in 2022.

 MADD’s purpose is to “end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking.”
