New "EMT" Program in Rutherford County at Local TCAT Campus

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN – Looking for a career change? Perhaps you’ve thought about going into the health field? A new course is being offered at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Murfreesboro that will lead you into the medical field. TCAT will soon be training future EMTs or, Emergency Technology Technicians… That was Patrick Wade, President of TCAT in Murfreesboro and Smyrna. He said the new EMT program will begin this September.

Wade told WGNS that TCAT’s courses change from time-to-time, depending on the needs of the community. More Details on the EMT Program - The 300-hour course is designed to instruct a student to the level of Emergency Medical Technician – Basics. EMT’s serve a vital link in the chain of the health care team. After completion of the new course, future students can take the National Registry Licensing Exam to become a licensed EMT. Licensing is required for individuals to be employed in the field. This new course can be completed in about four months. It’s also offered in the evening hours of Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, between 4:30 and 9:30pm.

Finding Jobs and Paying for College at TCAT - The president of TCAT told WGNS the college helps graduates of their programs find a career as their courses come to a close. He also suggested that funds are available to pay for school… As one might imagine, earning a specialized education and gaining a great job without adding a lot of debt is a huge plus!
