MURFREESBORO, TN – A GoFundMe has been started for a Murfreesboro family that has six children after a fire destroyed most of their home last week. In the fire on Sadler Court, the mother and six children made it out of their burning house safely this past Wednesday afternoon. Murfreesboro Firefighters also rescued a family cat in the midst of the commotion of fighting the blaze.
According to the GoFundMe, Kenny and Tricia Dunn, along with their 6 kids lost almost everything, including the family vehicle that was parked directly next to the house. Friends of the family helped to set-up the fundraising account to give them a start at a new beginning after so much was taken in a matter of minutes, due to the fire that unexpectedly broke out on a sunny afternoon, the day after Independence Day.
When Murfreesboro firefighters arrived to the home, there was heavy smoke billowing from the structure. Fire crews also saw flames coming from the garage as they neared the home. One WGNS listener a block away told us, “You could see heavy smoke pouring out of the house as emergency sirens cut through an otherwise silent afternoon.”
Investigators with the Fire Marshal’s Office are still looking into the cause of the blaze that thankfully spared the life of family members. As of today (July 11, 2023), a little over $12,400 has been raised on the GoFundMe page. The goal is to bring in $20-thousand.
