Christiana Motorcyclist Involved in June 30th Accident Dies

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - WGNS has more news on a motorcycle wreck that occured late last month in Murfreesboro. Police confirmed on Friday that Christiana resident Richard Coe has died, as the result of injuries he sustained in a June 30, 2023 motorcycle accident. 54-Year-old Coe died on Thursday, July 20th.

The wreck occurred at the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Armstrong Valley Road at 2 in the afternoon on a Friday. After the wreck, Rutherford County EMS rushed Coe to the Emergency Room at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was later flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center via a LifeFlight helicopter.

According to the original preliminary investigation, a 16-year-old driving a BMW X3 was at a stop sign on Armstrong Valley Road and drove into the path of the motorcycle. The teen was attempting to cross Veterans Parkway. Investigators looked into the possibility of the teen’s vision being obstructed by a utility truck parked at or near the intersection, but results of that investigation have not been released.

The U.S. Army Veteran who is originally from Hammond, Indiana, worked as an electrical engineer. He leaves behind his mother Ruth Coe, son Colton James Coe, along with four siblings. Services are in the care of Imes Funeral Home in Murray, Kentucky.
