(CHEYENNE, WY) Rockvale native Katie Coker takes first place on the first of two days of competition at the Women's Ranch Broc Championship in Cheyenne. Katie is one of 5 members of the American team.
They are competing against Canada, Great Britain, and Belgium.
She finished her :08 second ride , and didn't even have both feet in the stirrups!
Katie has 78 points in this 2 day event and leads by 2 point over last year's champion Allyson Spierlings.
Her mother, Elizabeth Coker shouted, "ROCKVALE IS ESTATIC! I am absolutely beside myself with enthusiasm!"
Mom's are always excellent spokespersons for their children.
When asked if Katie grew-up bronc riding in Rockvale, "No, Katie is classically trained English Dressage and competed locally in Hunter-Jumper events. There is no Equestrian team in Rockvale, but after Katie graduated from UT Chattanooga in 2021, she decided to visit friends in Colorado, loved and stayed to work with horses at a ranch there as well as in Texas. Her interest in rodeo events began about five months ago!"
She will ride again Sunday at the same time. Go Katie!
