MURFREESBORO, TN – If you drive past Overall Creek Elementary School this week and see a large presence of emergency responders, don't be alarmed. First of all, schools have not yet reopened and secondly, there is no emergency at the school... only training exercises.

The Murfreesboro Police Department, Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue and the Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency, along with other agencies will be conducting training on the campus of Overall Creek Elementary throughout the week (July 24 - 28, 2023). Otter Trail may be closed intermittently during this time.

The City Schools report, “We are happy to host these amazing organizations on our campus for their week long training's.”

Meanwhile, Overall Creek principal Don Bartch (Scroll Down for Photo) is in the running to be named the Principal of the year for Tennessee! The Tennessee Department of Education announced the nine finalists for the 2023-24 Principal of the Year earlier this year. The finalists represent each of the state’s nine Center of Regional Excellence regions. Bartch is not only representing Murfreesboro City Schools, but also the Mid Cumberland Region.
