(MURFREESBORO) The old saying "curiosity killed the cat" almost came true in the Heart of Tennessee on Sunday (7/30/2023). An uncapped sewer drain washout pipe was too tempting for a small kitten.

The kitten was not missing long until family members heard meow's from the approximately 12-inch wide pipe in the yard of the home.

Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue's ladder 2, C shift arrived quickly. Firefighter DeOrdeo said the kitten was about 6-feet down the pipe.

As you can see, the kitten was happy and instantly ready to play as he was being carried to the home.

Murfreesboro firefighters remind the public to make certain that caps are on all pipes, wells, drains or any opeings in which animals or children can become trapped.
