(MURFREESBORO) It was another perfect evening on the historic Murfreesboro square as thousands brought lawn chairs and enjoyed FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE (8/4/2023). This monthly free family-friendly music adventure is presented by Main Street Murfreesboro. The group Monsters of Yacht provided this first Friday's evening of fun. 

The Monsters of Yacht kept the crowd dancing with smooth hits from the 70s and 80s. Add to that the delicious food from the variety of downtown eateries and it was "just another night in paradise" as one of the songs proclaimed. 

Just a reminder, next month--instead of being on the first Friday...FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE on the Murfreesboro square will be on the third Friday. Get ready to rock'n roll from 6:30-9:30PM with Ultimate Oldies bringing back memories on Sept. 15, 2023. 

In case you did not know, the coordinating organization--MAIN STREET MURFREESBORO was organized in the late 1980s, and for 35-years has focused on preserving history by revitalizing the original beauty of the architecture, while attracting entrepreneurs and developers to bring new life to the area that was once Tennessee's state capital. 

During the first phase, Main Street Murfreesboro saw 93 renovations with a public and private investment of $28-million. Not only did this include taking down the pseudo modern aluminum facades that were put-up in the 1950's to give buildings a "modern look" and theoretically make downtowns look more like shopping centers. 

Studies later showed that the architectural stylings of older buildings were unique and attracted shoppers and tourists to an area. That has certainly proved accurate for Murfreesboro and its Main Street program.
