(MURFREESBORO) City Manager Craig Tindall has promoted Nate Williams to Executive Director of Recreational Services. Williams has served as director of the City’s Parks & Recreation Department since 2018. In addition, Angela Jackson has been named Executive Director for Strategic Services.
The Recreational Services Division, previously known as Community Services announced in 2018, will incorporate the Parks and Recreation Department, Golf Department, Adams Tennis Facility and Senior Center.
The City’s park system includes approximately 1,400 acres, 33 sites, 77 buildings and more than $175 million in assets. The Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department has 105 full-time and 300 part-time/seasonal employees with an operating budget of approximately $19.1 million.

In 2018, He was promoted from assistant director for the Parks and Recreation Department to director. Williams was appointed as assistant director in January 2017 after serving as recreation superintendent since 2011.
“Nate Williams’ leadership of the City’s Parks and Recreation Department has elevated our park’s tourism and economic development amenities and brought recognition through youth soccer development,” said City Manager Craig Tindall. “As an integral part of the strategic development of the Murfreesboro Parks and Greenway System, Nate has the knowledge, experience, and leadership to oversee the award-winning Parks system at the executive level.”
Williams is a 2008 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from the Jennings A. Jones College of Business.
Angela Jackson
Under the organizational changes, Angela Jackson’s leadership is transferred from Executive Director of Community Services to Executive Director for Strategic Services where she will oversee and manage the City’s internal support and communications.
“Angela’s leadership in directing the Community Services division, including the development of the City’s Strategic Partnerships with non-profit and community service providers, has been exceptional,” said Tindall. “Her leadership and management skills will be critical in guiding Strategic Services divisions, as well as transitioning Strategic Partnerships to funding by the Community Investment Trust.”
The Strategic Services Division, previously Internal Services, incorporates Broadcast Communications, Information Technology, Purchasing and Strategic Partnerships.
Tindall named Angela Jackson Executive Director of Community Services in 2018 after serving as director of the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department. Jackson began working for Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation Department in 2001 as an Assistant Program Coordinator. Jackson is a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee.
The City’s department heads report to seven division executive directors, including the police and fire chiefs. The division heads, two assistant city managers, Budget Director, and Human Resources Director report directly to City Manager Tindall.
