(MURFREESBORO) The Williamson Family Farm, a landmark event venue on Medical Center Parkway and across from The Avenue, celebrated its 70th anniversary and grand reopening on Friday (9/1/2023).
Over the past 3-years, the popular site has also undergone extensive construction and renovations on buildings, parking lots and entry roads.
The beautiful farm, with a city that's grown-up around it, is a living testament to the Williamson family's dedication and passion for agriculture. It was established on September 2, 1953 when Mark Bascom Williamson and his wife Mitsue purchased the farm.
The farm's journey has been nothing short of remarkable, with its evolution from a dairy farm with commodity crops, to a multifaceted venue offering diverse events and activities for the community, as well as a working organic farm.
"We are truly honored to have this ribbon-cutting ceremony as we celebrate 70 years of the Williamson Family Farm," said Mark Williamson, a second generation Williamson on the farm and current co-owner.
"Our parents' legacy has been the driving force behind our vision, and we are incredibly proud of our son–John Mark Williamson–who is the third generation Williamson carrying on our family tradition of working here at the farm as the Agriculture Operations Manager."
"We extend a warm invitation to our friends and neighbors in Murfreesboro and the Greater Nashville Area to join us for this momentous occasion," added Toni Turner, also a second generation Williamson on the farm and current co-owner.
He continued, “This journey has been a labor of love, and we can't wait to hit the ground running and celebrate all kinds of events with our community here at the farm.”
