MURFREESBORO, TN - A 56-year-old man allegedly tried to kill his girlfriend this past Sunday in Murfreesboro. The suspect, identified as Charles Robert Hirsch, poured a flammable liquid on the woman and attempted to catch her on fire, according to the unnamed source who spoke to WGNS on Wednesday.
The suspect was questioned by Murfreesboro Detectives and booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center this past Sunday evening at 5. Hirsch was charged with the Attempted First Degree Murder of Mary Rogers. Reports indicate the 51-year-old victim who survived the attack is recovering from injuries she sustained in the incident.
Hirsch appeared in court via a video feed at the local jail this week and was informed his bond was set at $200-thousand. Evidently the suspect is homeless and shares a campsite with Rogers and has been unable to come up with the funds needed to post bond. According to court documents, he is scheduled to appear before the Honorable Ben Bennett on October 11th.
