MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Gnome's are at it again, and this time they're reporting on a new survey that shows which cities are the “Most Vulnerable Cities for Burglaries” in 2023. But first, a bit of good news... Murfreesboro is far from the number one city for burglaries!
According to the Fence Gnome report, Jonesboro, Arkansas is THE Most Vulnerable City for Burglaries. The 2nd most vulnerable city for burglaries is Peoria, Arizona, followed by Seattle, Washington at number 3 on the list. While Murfreesboro was not in the top 5 for being vulnerable to burglaries, one Tennessee city DID SHOW UP in the top 5 for being THE most vulnerable cities for burglaries. That Tennessee town... Memphis, at number 4 on the list of vulnerable cities for burglaries.
Murfreesboro is LOW on the list at number 270, out of 485 cities in the ranking. Keep in mind number 1 is the most vulnerable to burglary and number 485 is the least vulnerable to burglary. So, a ranking of 270 is quite good! While there are lots of attractive homes in Rutherford County, local law enforcement presence, the sheer number of people with security systems and security cameras, all add up to make the 'Boro less attractive to burglars.
If real life burglars were to rank each city with a numerical score between 1 and 100, with 100 being the best area to burglarize a home and 1 being the worst area to burglarize a home, Murfreesboro would again rank well. Murfreesboro's overall potential burglary score was 21. To put that into perspective, Jonesboro, Arkansas had an overall score of 56, and remember Jonesboro ranked as the most vulnerable city for burglaries.
