(MURFREESBORO) It's always great to see local family businesses reach major milestones. Beckman’s Prescription Shop celebrated its 50th anniversary last week. 

Husband and wife Sylvia and Milton Beckman started the business in 1973 in the James K. Polk Hotel. 

In 1976 they moved across the street and down a few-hundred feet, because the historic old hotel was being torn-down to make way for a bank and office building. The corner of North Spring and West College Streets remains the address a half-century later. 

Another interesting tidbit of Murfreesboro history, in November, 1981, Stickney & Griffis drugstore merged with Beckman's.

In 2019 Shannon Beckman joined the staff of the growing family business. 

In 2021 Keith and Shannon Beckman completed the purchase of Beckman's Prescription Shop at 120 E. College St.  This husband and wife team are the second generation owners of this family-business, and are proud to carry on the 50-year tradition of offering exceptional pharmacy care to downtown Murfreesboro.
