Bobby Joe Spurgeon was indicted by a Rutherford County Grand Jury after appearing in court earlier this year. Court documents show that four counts of Aggravated Rape of a Child were dismissed under his plea agreement and Spurgeon was ultimately convicted on two counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery.
As a result of the guilty plea, Spurgeon was sentenced to 20-years in prison. The now 80-year-old Spurgeon will complete his sentencing in year 2042. At that point, he will be 99-years-old. According to the Tennessee Department of Corrections, Spurgeon is incarcerated at the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee.
Mr. Spurgeon is listed on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry as an "Offender Against Children." He is also listed as being "Violent Against Children."
