RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol will sponsor a sobriety checkpoint as a reminder to drivers to refrain from drinking and driving while celebrating at weekend Halloween parties.
The sobriety checkpoint will be from 11 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28 to 1 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 29 on U.S. Highway 41/70 (New Nashville Highway) at Roselawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force members from Murfreesboro and Smyrna Police and Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office will participate.
THP Sgt. Shawn Boyd said the troopers and officers will watch for impaired drivers in an effort to keep Halloween safe.
“We want to ensure the safety of Halloween,” Boyd said. “Those going to parties should be mindful. Don’t drink and drive.”
