RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - On Monday morning, gas prices in Rutherford County were averaging a price-point that was under the $3.00 mark. Currently, the average price of regular unleaded is sitting at $2.96 per gallon locally, according to AAA, the Auto Club. The Murfreesboro and Smyrna areas have fuel prices that are cheaper than many other areas right now. As drivers get closer to Nashville and pass through LaVergne, the price of gas start to go upwards.
Across the state, the average price of regular unleaded is $3.09 per gallon. For those who use premium fuel, the average price in Tennessee is $3.85 per gallon. Mid-grade is running an average price of $3.47 per gallon in the Volunteer State.
West of Rutherford County in neighboring Williamson County, the average price for regular unleaded is $3.49 per gallon. The Brentwood / Franklin area has the highest average priced fuel in the entire state of Tennessee. Williamson County has held onto those high prices for a period of 12-months or longer.
In Middle Tennessee, Bedford County has the lowest average price of regular unleaded at $2.91 per gallon. Across the state, Henry County has the cheapest gas with an average price of $2.81 per gallon.
For those who drive a diesel, the average price at the pump in the Volunteer State is sitting at $4.19 per gallon. Two weeks ago, the average price of diesel in Tennessee was .3-cents higher at $4.22 per gallon. One year ago, diesel was priced at $5.06 per gallon.
