Happy Thanksgiving from Our Family To Yours.
In today's world we don't slow down enough to let others know what a BLESSING they have been to all of us.
Well, the WGNS family wants you to know how very much you mean to us.
There are some who take the time to phone the radio station daily, just to make certain that we are well.
And when tragedies strike, as they have, YOU are always there to give encouragement. That means so very much, and you have helped us over many mountains.
You checked with the Good Neighbors daily during the pandemic, just to see how we were doing. We shared ideas and encouraged each other.
In return, your friends at WGNS have listened to you and have tried to serve you the information that you have said that you wanted.
And when there is a need in the Heart of Tennessee, YOU are always there to give your time, talent and money.
As we move through this Thanksgiving period, let us all pledge to slow-down, listen to the needs of others, give encouragement, time, talents and money when and where needed.
Already we have much for which to be THANKFUL, but if we try even harder between now and this time next year, we can all help and encourage so many more people in need of someone to listen, talk with and simply be a friend. That way, YOU become an even bigger BLESSING to others!
Your Good Neighbor Station pledges that to you, while we say THANK YOU for the blessing you have you have been to us.
One more request--
Please share with your Good Neighbor Station something that you wish we had on the radio or on our digital website. Also, let us know if we are doing something you wish we were not! If you don't say something, we'll never know.
Information about WGNS for those who are new to this area:
WGNS came on-the-air at 10:00PM News Year's Eve to ring-in 1947. That was almost 77-years ago. This was a very different place. The population was around 10,000, a big difference from Murfreesboro's 160,000+ today along with Rutherford County's 360,000+.
From the day we signed-on-the-air, almost 77-years-ago, the GNS in our call sign stood for Good Neighbor Station. We take that seriously in the way the radio station presents news, sports, community events--everything that WGNS does.

And what does the phrase "HEART OF TENNESSEE" mean? This is the geographic center for the State of Tennessee. In fact, an obelisk was errected at that exact location on the Old Lascassas Pike, just north of Hazelwood Street and about a half-mile north of the MTSU campus. That name takes on a "second meaning" with the people of this community. In addition to signifying "center of the state", it also describes the caring people who make-up our population. You can feel their love when you walk down the street or say "HI" to neighbors.
