Delving deeper into renovations at 930 Cason Lane, it's the address of the Murfreesboro City Schools (MCS) recently converted Cason Lane Academy Preschool. You may recall the City purchased the property from Child Care Deve GP, LLC earlier this year for $3.7 million. The purchase was funded with federal and local dollars. Mayor Shane McFarland highlighted the purchase and the use of Federal grant funds to enhance educational opportunities for MCS PreK students, particularly those from low and moderate-income families that were disproportionately impacted by COVID. The proposed renovations cover the costs of a new roof and the replacement of lavatory faucets with touchless faucets to reduce the spread of germs. The HVAC unit will also receive maintenance, all for just under $167-thousand. The 9,100 square foot facility houses eight classrooms and caters to approximately 160 students. The school opened in August of this year.

Additionally, Workshop Items will feature updates on various city initiatives, including the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport, Community Development's Subrecipient Presentation, Finance's consideration of CIP Transfers, and the Police Department's Real Time Crime Center Update. Administration will present updates on the Murfreesboro Community Investment Trust, alongside insights into the October Dashboard.
