RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Residents of Rutherford County can breathe a sigh of relief as Twin Oak Drive reopened on Wednesday following a brief closure caused by an overturned dump truck. The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon when the driver of the dump truck lost control, resulting in the vehicle rolling onto its side and spilling a load of gravel onto Twin Oak Drive. Fortunately, the truck driver sustained only non-life-threatening injuries in the accident.
Rutherford County Sheriff's deputies promptly closed the road at the intersection of Lascassas Highway and Twin Oak Drive for approximately two hours to facilitate the removal of gravel and ensure road safety.
The weight of an average dump truck, carrying gravel, is about 13 tons, encompassing both the truck and its cargo. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential hazards associated with heavy-duty vehicles, with large dump trucks capable of carrying up to 14 tons. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
