RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - Tim Holden, a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and former School Board member, has declared his candidacy for the Rutherford County School Board Zone 3. A graduate of Riverdale High School in 1978, Holden boasts a deep connection to the community as both a father and grandfather of Rutherford County students. His professional journey included a career as an engineer in manufacturing and sales before launching The Holden Group last year.
Holden's commitment to public service was underscored in 2021 when he was unanimously appointed by the Rutherford County Board of Commissioners to fill a vacancy in Zone 3's School Board representation. Now, he seeks to continue his service by offering himself as a candidate in the upcoming election.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the prospect, Holden stated, "I look forward to once again serving our students, parents, and teachers in Rutherford County so we can continue to be the best at all we set our minds to. Our children deserve the best, and that is what I intend to give."
During his previous tenure representing Zone 3, Holden prioritized communication and transparency, recognizing their significance for the success of the district. "Keeping parents of the over 50,000 children that attend a Rutherford County School informed is crucial to success. As your school board member, it's my priority to be transparent and open to taxpayers' ideas and comments. I will always be an advocate for our children, parents, and teachers," Holden emphasized.
Acknowledging the county's exponential growth over the last five years, Holden addressed the challenges associated with increasing student populations. "We must be ready and willing to adapt for growth by looking for ways to safely expand our existing schools and make the decision to place new schools throughout the heavier populated parts of our county. We must prioritize passing a conservative operating budget and keeping nonessential costs low," he added.
The upcoming election for the Rutherford County School Board Zone 3 is scheduled for March 5th, with early voting taking place from February 14th through February 27th. As the campaign unfolds, Holden aims to present his vision for the future of education in the county and engage with the community to address its evolving needs.
