(COLUMBIA, TN) A Smyrna woman is in the Maury County jail in Columbia,TN after she allegedly slammed into a broken-down car Wednesday night (1/10/2024) that was on the side of I-65 at the 38-mile marker.
As recorded on the Tennessee State Trooper’s body cam, Quashonda Williams told the officer that she had not had anything to drink.
When the trooper asked to see her driver’s license, Williams said that she did not have it with her, but that she paid for the license that day.
According to the THP, the preliminary investigation indicates that William’s vehicle hit a broken-down car that was parked in the emergency lane. That crash trapped and injured a male. Maury County Emergency Rescue extricated him before he could be flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Prior to the crash, a motorist called 911 to report that a car was traveling on the interstate with its lights off, and passed them at the Goose Creek exit (Williamson County) and was going in and out of traffic for almost 25-miles before the crash.
Quashonda Williams of Smyrna was charged with driving under the influence, vehicular assault, driving on a suspended license, and reckless driving.
Williams was booked at the Maury County Jail in Columbia, TN.
