Arctic Blast number two didn't allow much melting of the icy roads over the weekend, but warmer weather and rain will begin to wash away the trouble the first part of the week.

With moderating temperatures in the upper 40's Monday and mid-50's Tuesday will certainly help to thaw us out and melt away hazardous road conditions. Temperatures are expected to reach the 50s across the midstate by Tuesday and 60s on Wednesday and Thursday, which will be a nearly 70 to 80 degree jump in temperatures from what we saw last week.

In addition to the warmer weather there will be lots of rain. From late Monday through Friday evening, weather models paint 3 to 5 inches of rain across much of Middle Tennessee. The heaviest rainfall is expected to be from Tuesday night through Thursday night.

With snowmelt, and cold, soggy ground, flooding could become a concern this week and the National Weather Service will be monitoring the possibility of having to issue a Flood Watch for parts of the mid-state.
