Rutherford County's Habitat for Humanity is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Answering questions from the public on this broadcast are Habitat's COO Randy Allen and Marketing and Development Director Melissa Cross.
Under the leadership of CEO Terri Shultz, she came-up with the concept of purchasing 18-acres of quality land off Twin Oak Drive and develop a subdivision. Prior to that, Habitat was purchasing individual lots and the cost of building a home was sky rocketing. This has enabled Habitat for Humanity to keep the mortgage payments at approximately 30% of the home owner's income (usually in the $800/month range, which is much less than the $1,200+ per month rent that they were paying). Thank you Terri Shultz!
- Potential Habitat home owners turn-in their applications: March 11-22, 2024
- Habitat will build 10 homes this year, and one of them is the 200th Rutherford County home.
- Rotary Club "PANEL BUILDS" will be Feb. 17, 2024 at the Lane Agri-Park (Murfreesboro noon, breakfast and Smyrna clubs).
- All of the public gets the 50% or so savings on items at the Habitat Restore (860 Dr. MLK, Jr. Blvd.).
