(MURFREESBORO)  Middle Tennessee State University students and alumni looking for employment are encouraged to take advantage of the upcoming career fair hosted by the Tourism and Hospitality Management and Leisure and Sport Management programs.

The programs’ annual spring career fair, open to both alumni and students, is set for 1-3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, in the Student Union Ballroom, 1768 MTSU Blvd. on campus.

“This event offers a valuable opportunity for students to explore full-time, part-time, and internship positions,” said Yi “Vanessa” Liu, assistant professor in MTSU’s Tourism and Hospitality program within the Department of Health and Human Performance.

Over two dozen recruiters are scheduled, including Belle Meade Country Club, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Music City Center, Omni Hotels & Resorts, Compass Rose Events, Nashville Soccer Club, Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation Department, Tennessee State Soccer, Nashville Parks & Recreation, Tennessee State Parks, Vanderbilt University Athletics and Girls Scouts of Middle Tennessee. The list will be finalized Wednesday, Feb. 21.

The spring career fair is geared toward welcoming hospitality and sports industry companies. But the event is not solely focused on students enrolled in the THM and LSM programs.

“I think a lot of students end up in the hospitality field,” said Elizabeth Whalen, assistant professor and Tourism and Hospitality program coordinator. “So we want this to be something inclusive to everyone looking for employment — for those who are looking for opportunities or looking for management positions. A lot of companies are looking for talent.”

Liu suggested those who are attending should bring a resume, dress professionally and take advantage of meeting employers who are recruiting for professional-entry level or internship positions across multiple majors.

For students who do not have business attire, Liu encouraged them to visit the Raiders’ Career Closet, which distributes gently used professional clothing to students that they can keep. The closet is located within the MTSU Career Development Center in Keathley University Center Room 328, where students can also find assistance with resumes and other job resources.

Alumni bringing vehicles to campus for the fair can secure visitor passes through MTSU’s Office of Parking and Transportation at 205 City View St. or print your own online https://mtsu.edu/parking/visit.php. A campus parking map is available at http://tinyurl.com/MTSUParkingMap.
