(MURFREESBORO) Murfreesboro Police witnessed a vehicle running red-lights Monday night (2/19/2024), and the incidences ended in a single-vehicle crash at the entrance to the Old Fort Park.

Police became involved at 10:51PM Monday night near the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. An officer witnessed the driver of an older model tan Cadillac run a red light at the intersection of New Salem Highway and Middle Tennessee Boulevard.  Before the officer could turn around, or deploy his emergency equipment on the patrol unit, the car sped out-of-sight traveling west down the New Salem Highway.

Another officer witnessed the old Caddy run the traffic signal at the Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Highway as it entered the park. The vehicle crashed in the park on Golf Lane.

At that point, the two occupants jumped and attempted to flee-the-scene.  The female was quickly taken into custody, but the male suffered a leg injury and could not be moved from the wooded area for a while. In fact, an officer had to use a torniquet to control the bleeding.

First-responders from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue used chain-saws to cut limbs and clear brush to create a path to properly render first-aid.

29-year-old Jasmine Williams was arrested for evading arrest.

30-year-old Byron Davis had an outstanding warrant for a parole violation.  He was also charged with evading x 2, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.
