The Murfreesboro Police Department's Real-Time Crime Center received the alert at around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday evening. Seconds later, a patrol officer spotted the pickup pulling out of the BP gas station on Memorial Boulevard, near the VA Medical Center. Police pulled in behind the truck and conducted a felony traffic stop. At gunpoint, they ordered the driver and passenger to step out of the vehicle.
Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told WGNS News, “The truck was reported as stolen from Collierville Chrysler - Dodge - Jeep and Ram and was entered into NCIC (National Crime & Information Center) database.” Once the subjects were out of the pickup and questioned about their involvement in the alleged theft, they placed the driver in handcuffs. MPD officers arrested the driver, identified as Alejandro Leon-Centeno, and charged him with felony theft. The 30-year-old suspect, who has since been released on bond, is scheduled to appear in court on May 7, 2024. As for the passenger, he was not charged with any wrongdoing and allowed to leave the scene.
