Smyrna, TN - Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital automation and energy management, has announced bold plans to strengthen its manufacturing presence in Smyrna, Tennessee, with a substantial investment of $85 million. This investment is part of Schneider's broader commitment to expanding its U.S. manufacturing and distribution network, which has already seen over $440 million invested since 2020.
The expansion in Smyrna is expected to create numerous job opportunities, with approximately 750 new positions in manufacturing and related roles. This move comes in response to growing demand from critical infrastructure, industries, and data centers across the country.
Furthermore, Schneider Electric will also transform an existing 500,000-square-foot building in nearby Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, to accommodate the production of custom electric switchgear and medium-voltage power distribution products.
Despite the ongoing expansion, Schneider Electric aims to kickstart production in Mt. Juliet as early as mid-2024, with plans to reach full operational capacity in the following year. Both the Smyrna and Mt. Juliet facilities will integrate cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and software to enhance operational efficiency, implement energy-saving measures, and reduce their carbon footprint.
