(MURFREESBORO) Rutherford County’s 23rd Annual Earth Day is about a month away. It will be around the Historic Rutherford County Courthouse on Saturday, April 20, 2024. The Murfreesboro square will be bustling with fun from 10:00AM that morning until 2:00PM that afternoon.
Since the first event, the electric department has been the primary sponsor, and again Middle Tennessee Electric takes the lead. This year’s theme is “Think Green: Planet vs. Plastics.”
Earth Day Committee’s Chairman Amy Byers with Middle Tennessee Electric told WGNS…
Rutherford County’s Earth Day Celebration aims to educate and mobilize our community into action. This year, our theme is “Think Green: Panet vs. Plastics.” Some examples of how the theme came applied in daily life are recycling, reducing plastic consumption, supporting the use of sustainable products, and keeping our rivers and streams clean.
‘Student Poster Contest
Another Earth Day sponsor is Murfreesboro City Schools, and they encourage all students to enter your design in the STUDENT POSTER CONTEST. Create a poster that demonstrates the theme “Think Green! Planet vs. Plastics”
The poster could include recycling, saving water, saving energy, planting trees, etc. The main stipulation is that it contains reference to the theme “Think Green! Planet vs. Plastics”.
