Williamson County, TN - Next door to Rutherford County, in Franklin, Tennessee, a man is facing a slew of federal criminal charges alongside numerous local charges, including the rape of a child, following the execution of multiple search warrants by law enforcement. Upon conducting these searches, federal authorities uncovered child pornography and fraudulent immigration documents allegedly in the possession of or on the property of a Williamson County resident, as confirmed by United States Attorney Henry C. Leventis.

The indictment, issued last week by a federal grand jury, levies charges against 63-year-old Camilo Campos-Hurtado, including four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of receiving visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, one count of possessing fraudulent immigration documents, and one count of possessing an identification document or authentication feature produced without lawful authority. Notably, these are only the federal charges, with a litany of local charges awaiting the same suspect.

If convicted, Campos-Hurtado faces a mandatory minimum sentence of fifteen years and a maximum sentence of life in federal prison.

This isn't the first time Campos-Hurtado has made headlines. Last summer, WGNS aired a news story detailing his arrest for the Rape of a Child and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. 3-Weeks ago, it was learned that the two charges announced last summer were only the start of what would become a massive case. The suspect will head to court for his arraignment this coming Wednesday (March 27, 2024), where he will face 14 counts of rape, 6 counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, 2 counts of rape of a child, 1 count of aggravated rape, 1 count of continuous sexual abuse of a child, 4 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and 1 count of sexual exploitation of a minor involving 50 or more images.

Reports indicate that locally, the suspect has long been known as a prominent soccer coach throughout the Williamson County area. Local, is also where the case first got underway. Last year, Franklin Police were contacted by a restaurant employee who found a cell phone left behind by a customer, later identified as Campos-Hurtado. Upon examination of the phone, staff discovered numerous videos and images of children, prompting a call to police and giving traction to rape charges filed in the local court system and federal charges to be heard in the federal courts.

Campos-Hurtado is slated to appear for arraignment in the Williamson County Courts this Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
