MURFREESBORO, TN - Planning is underway for that new Murfreesboro Park, which will be in the Blackman area... That was assistant parks director Thomas Laird. The parks department is also exploring the idea of an event space within the future park, according to Marketing Coordinator Lynn Caldwell...

Nashville-based Gresham Smith was selected to conduct master planning and design work for the park this past year. Approximately $8-million has been earmarked for a variety of elements within the new park, according to Assistant City Manager Sam Huddleston. A timeline that points to an opening date for the park has yet to be announced.

Again, amenities within the new Blackman park on Veterans Parkway near Shores Road are being planned at this time. Construction dates and an opening date has not been announced.
