Murfreesboro, TN - Murfreesboro Police Chief Michael Bowen was on WGNS Wednesday morning (4/3/2024) talking with local residents about reducing car break-ins. He noted that it's the fastest growing crime here at this time. Bowen also talked with persons asking about potholes, bushes blocking the view as motorists pull onto a major thoroughfare.

Chief Bowen directed residents to contact the Murfreesboro Street Department and they will help with your concernes.

Then a listener from his car, phoned with a more immediate need...

Police were called to the trouble-spot while the conversation was still happening on the radio.

In the broadcast, WGNS asked why the Murfreesboro Police FaceBook page had been down for a month? Were they really in FaceBook jail?

Those are just a few of the items covered.

By the way, similar opportunities to talk with Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland are on the second Wednesday of each month. That will be on WGNS next week on April 10 (8:10-9:00AM), the RCSO Sheriffs Office is on the third Wednesday (4/17) and County Mayor Joe is Carr on the radio the final Wednesday (4/24).  All are on-the-air from 8:10-9:00AM.
