Murfreesboro, TN - April is National Volunteer Month, a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of blood and platelet donors who support the American Red Cross’s lifesaving mission. These dedicated volunteers play a crucial role in providing essential transfusions to hospital patients.

Sherri R. McKinney, the Red Cross Regional Director of Communications, emphasizes the importance of donors maintaining their appointments during spring. To express gratitude, anyone who donates blood between April 8 and 28 will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice. Additionally, donors will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of two $7,000 gift cards (details available at RedCrossBlood.org/Spring).

The Red Cross relies on thousands of volunteer blood donors to collect approximately 12,000 blood donations every single day. Since there is no substitute for blood and no way to manufacture it, these selfless donors are essential for transfusion care. Blood drives and donation centers also depend on the generosity and valuable time of those who make it possible for the Red Cross to assist people in need.

If you’re in Murfreesboro, visit the Red Cross office located at 501 Memorial Boulevard. You can call 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) to schedule an appointment that fits your availability and give the precious “gift of life.” Alternatively, you can participate in any of the other blood drives in the area.
