Middle Point Landfill's General Manager Mike Classen answers questions from the public::
- Biggest concern is "smell", and Classen says 98% of their energy has focused on that issue to eliminate the problem.
- Natural gas conversion from landfill to ATMOS Energy. Middle Point has invested $11-million in this project.

- Use the land between West Jefferson Pike and the landfill to construct recycling plants.

- Comments from Earth Day on Murfreesboro square include similar needs brought out at the open houses.
- Republic Services has agreed to dramatically reduce waste from other counties, with the bulk of that being Davidson County. He noted, "This is an investment in Rutherford County".
- Classen said, "Based on current useage, the landfill should be full within 4 1/2 to 5-years."
