Nashville, TN - Around 8:30AM Sunday morning (4/28/2024) a man's body was found floating in Percy Priest Lake. The body of 34-year old Harold Tomlinson was recovered about a mile from where he heroically saved the life of a friend's daughter.
The family's had rented a pontoon boat and were enjoying a Saturday (4/27/2024) outing on the lake when the tragedy occurred. The girl was struggling in the lake's choppy water and she started to drift away from the boat. Tomlinson saw what was happening, and immediately jumped-in and pulled the youngster to safety.
Sadly, those on the boat said he started struggling and went under the boat, but never resurfaced.
As reported in earlier WGNS newscasts, TWRA (Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency) was searching Percy Priest Lake near Goose Island. By 8:30PM Saturday night, they still had not located Tomlinson's body, and decided to call off the search for the safety of the divers and search team.
Then around 8:30AM Sunday morning passing motorists in the 3800 block of Bell Road told police that they spotted a man's body floating in the lake.
By the way, Goose Island is about 200-feet off the shoreline and approximately a mile from where a body was found floating Sunday morning. In that area, Bell Road follows the shoreline.
Later Sunday, the Medical Examiner confirmed that the body found Sunday morning was 34-year old Harold Tomlinson, the same person who saved the life of the little girl 15-hours earlier.
