Murfreesboro, TN – Rutherford County Schools (RCS) Director Jimmy Sullivan commented about charter schools in social media, “This SHOULD NOT be political but it has become so. Pay attention to what is happening in OUR county.”
Dr. Sullivan explained, “RCS is funded with previous year enrollment from TDOE (Tennessee Department of Education).”
He noted that charter schools are funded on projected enrollment.
Dr. Sullivan said, “If Rutherford County Schools were funded on projected enrollment, we would receive an extra 10-15 million dollars. School choice is great, Make the rules equal, since BOTH ARE PUBLIC SCHOOLS”!
He concluded, “In the two-weeks I’ve been out of work, Rutherford County schools is going to have to give $11-million to charter schools out of our fund balance “savings”. This money should be used to purchase land and support our students. I hope the public will start paying…”
