RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Rutherford County experienced significant traffic disruptions on Wednesday morning due to multiple accidents on major roadways. The first of three wrecks was reported during the early morning hours on Interstate 24 near the South Church Street exit, causing initial delays and safety concerns. However, it was cleared by 7:45 AM.
An hour after the debris was cleared from the I-24 / South Church Street crash, another serious accident occurred – this time on I-840 near Jefferson Pike. According to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, a tractor trailer collided with a concrete barrier in the eastbound lane around 9 AM. The impact caused the truck to overturn and slide on its side, finally coming to rest under the Jefferson Pike overpass. This accident required extensive cleanup efforts and led to significant traffic congestion in the area.
At the same time, a third accident was reported on the New Nashville Highway, necessitating the closure of the roadway. The details of this incident are still emerging, but the road closure added to the traffic woes for Rutherford County residents.
Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and patience as cleanup and investigation efforts continue. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and stay updated on traffic conditions.
