Murfreesboro, TN - As tornadoes, floods and storms continue to ravage Tennessee and other states across this nation, data compiled at the Red Cross shows that roughly 500 homes have either been destroyed or sustained major damage. In addition there have been many injuries and those persons often need blood in order to survive.

- More than 1,150 overnight stays in 23 Red Cross and community shelters.
- More than 25,500 meals and snacks.
- Relief supplies to more than 1,800 households.
In Tennessee, shelters are open in several counties, where the impact is greatest. People can go to these shelters if they are displaced from their homes, to report damages to their homes, to receive food and get help with any immediate medical needs they may have, including lost prescriptions or medical equipment needs. The Red Cross also has health and mental health services and spiritual care support available.
Red Cross workers are conducting Damage Assessment and distributing emergency supplies in affected areas, where it is safe to do so. This work will help us to better understand what help families may need in the coming days and weeks. For more information and a list of shelter locations, click here.
