LaVergne, TN - The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA) Division of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has recognized Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems in LaVergne with the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health.
TOSHA Assistant Commissioner Wendy Fisher presented the Governor’s Award of Excellence to the company on June 12, 2023, at the Tennessee Safety and Health Conference in Nashville.
“Sumitomo has demonstrated a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace," said Fisher. “The evaluation criteria for this award are challenging, and this company has worked extremely hard to meet and exceed the standards the award requires.”
The Governor’s Award of Excellence recognizes Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.
Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems manufactures motor vehicle electrical and electronic equipment. The company has qualified for the Governor’s Award by working more than 1,033,760 hours without a lost time or restricted duty workplace injury or illness.
