MURFREESBORO, TN - Several projects are underway within the Murfreesboro Parks and Rec Department, one of which is a new Skate Park, according to Parks Director Nate Williams... What is called a “pump track” will also be built around the skate park, which will be for bike and scooter riders. Both the skate park and pump track should open to visitors by mid-July.

Also underway at Old Fort Park... The Parks Department also plans to renovate the original ball field near the entrance of Old Fort Park, which first opened in the 1970s. The ball field renovation will have a focus on the parking lot as well, which routinely holds an excess of water in heavy rains.

Another big undertaking is the future Veterans Park in the Blackman Community. The park has been in the planning and design phase since 2023... Veterans Park will consist of 150-acres and include a trail system to walk on, a hard surface sport / court area, three pavilions, a playground and event space. The land for the park is between I-840 and Highway 96.
