RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - As Tennessee rolled into the month of July last week, motorists encountered a 10-cent hike in gas prices. Now, as we enter Week 2, drivers are feeling an additional pinch at the pump. The average gasoline price has risen by another 5.8 cents per gallon in the past week, bringing the current average to $3.15 per gallon, according to GasBuddy's survey of 3,821 stations across the Volunteer State.

Specifically in Rutherford County, the price of fuel is averaging $3.25 per gallon, according to AAA – the Auto Club. In neighboring Nashville, the price is also holding steady at $3.25. South of Rutherford County in the Shelbyville area, it's the same story—$3.25 per gallon. East of Murfreesboro in Cannon County, the per-gallon price is a bit friendlier at $3.13. Meanwhile, in nearby Wilson County, fuel costs are about six cents cheaper than Rutherford County, coming in at $3.19 per gallon for Lebanon and Mt. Juliet residents.

However, if you’re looking for the priciest gas in the state, head over to Williamson County, where regular unleaded is averaging a wallet-draining $3.52 per gallon. Looks like those fancy zip codes come with a premium at the pump!

At this rate, Tennesseans might start considering alternate forms of transportation—perhaps horse-drawn carriages or simply strapping on their sneakers for the morning commute.
