Sumner County Woman Charged in Daughter's Death

SUMNER COUNTY, TN - WGNS has more news on a case out of nearby Sumner County involving the alleged murder of a child.

On July 13, 2024, the Hendersonville Police Department was notified of a child that had drowned in Drakes Creek near 200 Sanders Ferry Rd in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Detectives responded to investigate and determined that the child’s mother, 33-year-old Brandi Elliott, was responsible for the child’s death, according to Hendersonville Police. Elliott was subsequently charged with First Degree Murder and transported to the Sumner County Jail.

Evidently, Elliott admitted to killing her young daughter, allegedly holding her under water in Old Hickory Lake as she was telling the child to be quiet. After realizing what she had done, she reportedly pulled her child back to the surface and tried to revive her. The child was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
