MURFREESBORO, TN - Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation is set to officially open its new Skate Park and Pump Track with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, July 19th at 10 AM at Old Fort Park. Following the ceremony, the skate park will be open daily from daylight to dusk.
The new facility will feature a street-scape style concrete park with a pump track, which is a track for bikes, skateboarders or scooters. The entire project was approved by the Murfreesboro City Council on January 25, 2024. Constructed by New Line Skateparks FL, Inc., the project cost $888,449 and will provide a long-requested amenity for the local skating community.
Mayor Shane McFarland and Recreational Services Executive Director Nate Williams have expressed excitement about the park, which opens this Friday.
On a side note, New Line Skateparks FL, Inc was the lowest responsible bidder for the project. The $888,449 contract for the facility included a 5 percent owners’ contingency. The allowance was for unforeseen issues that arise to be resolved in an expedited manner , which allowed construction to stay on schedule.
