Murfreesboro, TN - The Murfreesboro Police Department is actively investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident between a bicyclist and a vehicle. Authorities have confirmed that the bicyclist is deceased. The tragedy occurred around 5:30PM Thursday evening (7/18/2024) on South Rutherford Boulevard between Haven Drive and Billy Boulevard. That is the vicinity of the Walmart store on Rutherford Boulevard.

Police confirmed with WGNS that they quickly located the hit and run vehicle after the incident occurred. Authorities have placed the driver, who was accused of leaving the scene of the deadly crash, into their custody. Charges are reportedly pending the outcome of the investigation by the Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT).

Rutherford Blvd. is closed between Billy Blvd. and Haven Dr. in both directions while police investigate a serious crash where a bicyclist was hit by a vehicle that left the scene.  Police have located the vehicle and currently investigating.
