Rutherford County, TN - Rutherford County Fire and Rescue (RCFR) Engineer William “Bubba” Steele is helping the fire industry through peer instructional videos. 

Steele started his career in southern Rutherford County as a volunteer firefighter with the Christiana Volunteer Fire Department before joining RCFR.  Promoted in 2021 to Engineer, he also serves as an Investigator, Emergency Medical Technician, and adjunct instructor for pump and aerial programs with the Tennessee Fire and Codes Academy, The Water Thieves LLC, and works with Task Force Tips, which is an industry-leading fire equipment manufacturer.  He is happy to share his experiences with students and peers not only in Tennessee but globally.  Steele volunteered his expertise for the eight-part video series, which covers basic concepts to advanced techniques. RCFR and the Christiana Volunteer Fire Department provided fire equipment and time off from work.  

“I am extremely proud of Engineer William Steele for his hard work and dedication to increasing his knowledge of pump operation and his desire to teach these new pump operation techniques to other firefighters across the state of Tennessee,” said RCFR Fire Chief Larry Farley.    

Steele credits his success to several people. “I am extremely humbled, grateful, and blessed to be mentored and supported by the greatest leaders in the fire service. I never would have thought my career would be where it is today and absolutely wouldn’t be possible without the support of my beautiful wife and awesome son, not to mention Chief Farley, the entire administration at RCFR and my mentor and dear friend Andy Soccodato,” he said. 

Steele strives to keep his skill set at top performance with high intensity and aggressiveness for the community he serves.
