MURFREESBORO – The fourth Rutherford County Public Safety Building has been opened in Walter Hill.

Brent Carter with Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services says paramedics will be staffed at the newest facility starting Thursday (August 1st):

This is the fourth Public Safety Building with others already open in Rockvale, Lascassas and Kittrell. A fifth is planned for the Christiana area close to Plainview Elementary School. The buildings cost about 5-million dollars each to build, paid for with Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. Rutherford County Fire & Rescue has the building staffed with work space for Rutherford County Sheriff's deputies.

Carter says as of their last report, the three previously opened facilities have been busy answering EMS calls:

Carter says about four-thousand calls a month are handled by our local EMS. With the staffing of the Walter Hill facility, EMS will have 18 trucks running 9-1-1 calls.
