Murfreesboro, TN - Emergency agencies joined together Monday (8/5/2024) for an "Active Shooter Drill" at Siegel High School. Actors were even hired to make this as realistic as possible. When noon arrived, roads around the area were closed to traffic, and suddenly emergency vehicle with lights and sirens began to move into the area.

Rutherford County Schools Communications Director James Evans explained what happened...

Before long, the campus at Siegel High was covered with emergency vehicles. Helicopters flew-in, mobile command centers were set-up, all to make everything as real as possible.

Educators and emergency responders agree that you can't have too much training. The "Active Shooter" drill ended around 3:30PM.

There were no students involved as the fall semester does not begin until this Wednesday (8/7/2024) with a half-day, and Thursday (8/7/2024) as the first full-day of school. Murfreesboro City Schools are on the same schedule.

Over the next couple of weeks, WGNS' local talk shows will include guests who will share their experiences with this massive "active shooter" drill that was held at Siegel High School.
