MURFREESBORO, TN - With a new student growth rate of about 2% annually in the Murfreesboro City School system, the need for more classroom space is larger than ever. Trey Duke, the director of the City Schools, highlighted one of the current projects that is underway now… Duke said that parents should expect construction to last about one-year. 

There are 15 City school campuses in Murfreesboro and many students began their school day at their neighborhood bus stop… About 6% of the student body rides the bus to or from school daily. Making that commute safer for the students are the bus aides…

This school year, nearly 800 certified staff members oversee classrooms that accommodate over 9,340 students. Due to Murfreesboro's diverse population, at least 30 different languages are spoken by students throughout the City school system.

School safety is always a priority for administrators and educators alike, which is why incoming guests are stopped at the office… But not to worry, the days of cupcakes and cookies during birthdays and special occasions are far from over…

The Extended School Program (ESP) serves an average of 1,900 students each school year in the City Schools… More than just a daycare, the before and after school program offers students fun and well-planned lessons each day.  Enrollment for the ESP program is currently open.
