TENNESSEE - The State Board of Education is seeking input from Tennesseans on the state’s English Language Arts (ELA) standards through a new public survey… That was JC Bowman, Executive Director & CEO of the Professional Educators of Tennessee. This survey is a key part of the review process mandated by Tennessee statute and State Board Policy, which requires a review of academic standards every eight years…

The survey, which will be open from August 12th, 2024, to September 8th, 2024, allows residents to provide feedback on Tennessee’s K-12 ELA standards. These standards, first put into effect during the 2020-21 school year, are being reassessed to ensure they meet the needs of students and educators.

Participants are encouraged to review the current ELA standards and indicate whether they should be kept, removed, modified, or moved to a different section. This feedback will play a crucial role in shaping future revisions of the standards.
