MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) Board of Trustees will hold its committee meetings on Tuesday, August 20, in the Miller Education. The meetings are expected to cover a range of topics, from academics and advancements to updates on athletics and compliance.

During their previous meetings in May, board members were presented with impressive statistics regarding student-athletes. The overall GPA for student-athletes stands at 3.2, and 78 athletes have recently graduated from MTSU. The upcoming meeting will feature a presentation from the athletic department, and will likely include details on the new football video board installed over the summer at Floyd Stadium. Athletics Director Chris Massaro will provide an update on the Department of Athletics during the meeting.

In addition to athletics, the board will review recent academic achievements. In May, 34 candidates were approved for tenure, and 55 candidates received promotions. Each candidate underwent a thorough vetting process before approval, as documented in the meeting minutes.

The day’s agenda will include several committee meetings:

  • Academic Affairs, Student Life, and Athletics Committee at 9 a.m.: This meeting will cover the approval of minutes and reports on student life, enrollment, and athletics.

  • Finance and Personnel Committee at 10 a.m.: Agenda items include the approval of minutes, updates on capital projects, capital disclosures, a classified employee grievance annual report, an incentive pay plan, and a philanthropy update.

  • Audit and Compliance Committee at 11 a.m.: This meeting will address the approval of minutes, the annual report for Audit and Consulting Services, quarterly internal audit reports, results of external reviews, and risk assessment reporting.

The meetings provide an opportunity for board members to discuss significant developments and make informed decisions to support the university’s continued growth and success.

All committee meetings are open to the public and are livestreamed. Each of the scheduled meetings next Tuesday will be held at the Miller Education Center on the Second Floor at 503 Bell St. in Murfreesboro.

Committee meeting times are approximate; if one meeting finishes early, the following committee meeting may begin earlier than noted.
