Murfreesboro, TN – Ironically, it has only been five days since we told you that community advocate and long-time WGNS listener Casey Clark was facing some serious medical issues. A family member said that Casey passed away around midnight of Wednesday going into Thursday (9/5/2024). Clark died just 2 months and 28 days before his 74th birthday.

Casey used to call WGNS on a regular basis to talk with the mayors, police chief, sheriff and other community leaders. Although not always sharing his philosophy, they all got to know him on a first-name basis and immediately recognized his voice on the radio.

Casey was born in Smyrna, but he and his family moved to Murfreesboro in 1960 where he grew-up with his grandmother on Poplar Street and went to the old Chrichlow Grammar School where he played quarterback on the football team.

When talking on the radio one day, Casey confessed that he loved people, and never met a person he really didn’t like. He felt, people with opposite views could get together…

Casey used music to get feelings across. He was one of the area's most talented guitar players. He was a big fan of Jimi Hendrix, and emulated that style while entertaining at several area locations. A big thrill in his life was playing with Hendrix one-time when the superstar was in Nashville.

Casey would also use his music as a way to connect with youth so that he could mentor them...

Again, 73-year old Casey R. Clark passed away early Thursday morning (9/5/2024). Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later from Nelson & Sons Funeral Home. CLICK HERE for obituary.
